Aerostatic Shipyards is contributing to Canada’s entry into the renewed global wave of lighter than air innovation by developing sustainable aircraft that pair proven buoyant flight principles with modern clean-fuel technology. Our work focuses on quiet operation, low emissions, and the endurance required for real commercial missions, from tourism and research to regional access and environmental observation.
HTD-1 is a next-generation lighter-than-air aircraft that uses a modern buoyancy-management approach to adjust lift without routine gas loss or heavy ballast systems. A streamlined onboard energy arrangement supports both propulsion and stability functions, enabling smooth low-speed handling, low acoustic impact, and precise positioning. The platform is being developed for passenger, observation, and research missions where quiet operation and minimal infrastructure are essential.
